Beom Jun Kim

Beom Jun Kim is a founding principal of WA.K Studio, an architectural design practice based in Brooklyn, New York. The work and research of WA.K Studio focuses on multiple scales from objects, public art to buildings. Their projects explore the interplay between technology and the built environment to discover new ways of seeing and experiencing space.
WA.K Studio’s work and writings have been exhibited at institutions such as Pratt and the Cooper Union and in book and journals such as A Purple Architecture, Log, CLOG, NYRA, Platt and Dezeen.
Beom Jun also teaches advanced studios at Yale University and has taught the seminar course, Virtual Futures, with artist Olalekan Jeyifous exploring world building in game engines and Beom Jun was an invited professor at Barnard College to teach a Special Topics in Architecture seminar called Virtual, Augmented & Built Realities on the subject of spatial computing in architectural representation.
In addition to teaching and working on architectural projects in New York and Los Angeles, Beom Jun also serves on the Board of Directors of the Center for Urban Pedagogy, a New York based non-profit organization dedicated to design’s ability to empower underserved communities.
Beom Jun received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from UCLA and a Master of Architecture from Yale University.
