Thank you for considering The Cooper Union as a source of exceptional talent. By engaging with our students, you are connecting with a community of highly skilled, intellectually curious, and creatively driven individuals across the disciplines of art, architecture, and engineering. Each student brings a rigorous academic background, hands-on experience, and a distinctive perspective shaped by a deep commitment to innovation, social responsibility, and interdisciplinary thinking.

Your involvement in our recruitment efforts not only strengthens the bridge between education and industry but also plays a direct role in shaping the professional journeys of our students. Whether you are hosting a company visit, conducting interviews, or sharing a job or internship opportunity, your engagement helps prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern workforce.

We are truly grateful for your partnership. Your support makes a meaningful and lasting impact—not just on our students’ immediate career opportunities, but on their long-term growth and success. Together, we are helping to launch the next generation of visionary artists, architects, and engineers into the world.

Recruiting Policies/Ethics
The Center for Career Development does not promote unpaid internships or work experiences unless they are clearly defined as volunteer roles. We believe all individuals deserve fair and equitable compensation for their contributions.

We also encourage thoughtful, transparent hiring processes. Students who are given adequate time to attend career fairs, complete interviews, and evaluate offers are more likely to make informed, lasting decisions. To support this, we ask employers to provide reasonable timeframes for offer decisions. Students are advised to decline offers they do not intend to accept and to withdraw from further recruiting once they’ve committed to a position. Reneging on an accepted offer is a serious violation of our policies; should this occur, please contact our office before taking direct action so we can assist promptly.

Our team is available to guide employers on fair compensation, recruitment best practices, and any challenges that arise during the hiring process. We also encourage all employers to review and comply with EEOC regulations regarding nondiscrimination and fair employment practices.

Other Ways to Recruit Students

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
