Vodurudo

Ukrainian Signal hosts a screening of Vodurudu, a film directed by Anatolii Sachivko, that combines the well-known compositions of Mykola Leontovych and sound restoration by electronic musician Dmytro Avksentiev (Koloah) with the contemporary Ukrainian dancers Apache Crew. The movie,  filmed over six years, has been shown in Lisbon, Dublin, London, Berlin, Paris, and Kyiv.

Vodurudu (meaning: Will, Thought, Movement, Spirit) is an improvised folkloric film ballet, which derives from the environment and time. The axis of the plot is a tribe of free people whose nature is in constant motion. Keeping together and their nature, they travel through the ages and seasons, occasionally coming into direct contact with the outside world. This ballet film is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the tragic death of the father of Ukrainian melody Mykola Leontovych, the composer who created “Carol of the Bells” (“Shchedryk”) — one of the most famous Christmas songs in the world.

Tickets available here.

The showcase is hosted by Ukrainian Signal, a charitable fund and cinema club founded by creatives to introduce modern Ukrainian culture to the world community. Represent and promote Ukrainian creatives through contemporary cinema, exhibitions, public talks, and live performances worldwide.
