Jeong Eun Ahn

Assistant Professor
Civil Engineering

Dr. Jeong Eun Ahn earned her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, where her research focused on enhancing coastal resilience. As part of her doctoral work, she developed a model to identify zones with favorable environmental conditions for oyster habitation. Prior to her Ph.D., she earned a Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rowan University for three years before joining The Cooper Union.

Dr. Ahn's research interests span environmental fluid mechanics, sustainability, and resilience, with an emphasis on developing and applying numerical modeling systems to investigate environmental flows and evaluate the impacts of extreme weather events and sea level rise on water resources and ecosystems. Alongside her research, she is committed to continuous pedagogical growth, striving to foster student engagement and deeper learning. Her scholarship has been supported by a diverse funding portfolio from USDA, NJDEP, NJWRRI, EPA, NSF, DOE, and ISI.

“I am thrilled to join the Cooper Union. I strongly believe in Cooper's commitment to providing outstanding education for talented and diverse students. I am excited to make meaningful contributions to the Department of Civil Engineering and the Albert Nerken School of Engineering. I look forward to working with colleagues and students in multidisciplinary projects and research."
