Group Tours

Group tour visits to 41 Cooper Square are temporarily suspended due to unexpected building closure. Thank you for your patience!

We welcome high school groups and community–based organizations (CBOs) to visit and tour our campus!

Group tours are capped at a maximum of 30 total guests, including all students and chaperones due to space limitations.

The best time to visit and get a sense of our community is during the fall and spring semesters. Group tours are not available on weekends, during college holidays, on days when our office is hosting events, or during midterms and finals. Please review our academic calendar for more details.

To request a group tour, please complete this FORM. Allow our team 3-5 business days to reply to your request. Completing the request form does not guarantee a visit.

Contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@cooper.edu with any questions.

How long do tours typically last?
  • Tours typically last 45- to 90-minutes depending on how many programs you wish to view. Visitors will have an opportunity to walk through our academic buildings and the library while learning about our programs. Please note that we are unable to extend the tour or provide additional programming (such as student panels or faculty meetings) beyond this walking tour.
What is covered on a group tour?
  • The group tour is a introductory walking tour of our academic facilities. It is designed specifically for prospective students to see the physical campus. Our school tour will provide information about our Art, Architecture and Engineering programs and admission requirements while also showcasing our facilities.
Does Cooper provide lunch and/or transportation as part of the experience?
  • Cooper Union is an urban campus and cannot provide indoor lunch space, bag storage, or dining facilities for visiting groups. Additionally, we do not provide or validate transportation. Groups are encouraged to explore the many public parks and local eateries in the East Village.

Are there public transportation options close to campus?
  • Our campus is easily accessible by public transportation. If you plan to visit by car or chartered bus, please allow extra time to navigate New York City traffic and to secure a parking space. There are multiple parking garages near campus.
Does Cooper provide an information session as part of the tour?
  • To ensure our staff can support all prospective students, group visits are limited to walking tours only. If your students require a deep dive into the application process or curriculum, we recommend they register for a virtual info session.
How do I keep in contact with Cooper after my visit?
  • Please join our mailing list to learn more about us, our offerings, and stay informed of important dates and events.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
