Ignacio González-Lang

Ignacio González-Lang was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University. He’s an artist and educator based in New York City. He’s taught drawing and sculpture at School of Visual Arts since 2008.
Ignacio has exhibited his work nationally and internationally in museums including the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, MO (2022), Bronx Museum, New York (2017), MoMA PS1, New York (2016, 2015, 2005), Abroms/Engel Institute for the Visual Art, Birmingham, Alabama (2014), El Museo del Barrio, New York (2013), Jewish Museum & Tolerance Center, Moscow (2013), Jewish Museum, Vienna (2012), Frost Art Museum, Miami, FL (2008), OK Centrum Fur Gegemwartskunst, Linz, Austria (2006), Institute for Contemporary Art, London (2005), Contemporary Art Center, Vilnius (2005), RISD Museum, Providence, RI (2005, 2004), Art in General, New York, (2004), International Center of Photography, New York (2003) and Fundacion Joan Miro, Barcelona, Spain (2000). His work has been reviewed in publications such as the New York Times, New Yorker, Artforum, Art Review, Los Angeles Times, Art Papers, Artnet, Hyperallergic and CNN. His awards and residencies include Pollock-Krasner Foundation International Studio and Curatorial Program Fellowship (2022), NYFA Fellowship (Sculpture, 2020), Cintas Grant Finalist (2008), Art Matters Grant (2007), The Hayward Award (2003), Museo de Arte de Ponce; Acquisition Prize (2003).
