How to Apply
Eligibility
The Outreach Pre-College Program accepts high school students who live in New York City and surrounding areas, in grades 10-12, and who are enrolled in either a public or private high school. Each seasonal program is designed for a specific grade level.
Please refer to the calendar for complete portfolio review dates and grade eligibility for each session.
Application
Students must come to campus to be interviewed in person in order to be admitted to the program. If you are unable to come to the portfolio review at the scheduled time, please contact the office before the review date to set up an individual appointment. (The office IS open Monday- Wednesday, 9-5pm. The office is NOT open Thursday or Friday.)
Each season has a separate application and portfolio review date. Please refer to the schedule and eligibility requirements to make sure that you are applying for the correct session.
IMPORTANT INFO and FAQ:
The Portfolio Review is held at 41 Cooper Square, 1st Floor (7th Street @ 3rd Avenue).
The reviews run from 10am to approximately 2pm.
Arrive according to your last name: A-M 10am-12pm N-Z 12pm-2pm.
Your portfolio should include 10-20 original artworks (you may include proper documentation for artworks too big or unable to be brought in person)...
...As well as any sketchbooks, to include drawing from observation.
Artwork for the portfolio does NOT need to be matted.
You can download the application at home or call 212-353-4202 to request that an application be mailed to your home address. Applications will also be available on-site, the day of the Portfolio Review. Bring the completed application with your portfolio to the review on the specified date, (see calendar). Courses are held on Saturdays from 9am – 5pm Feb. 21 – April 11, 2015
Drawing, Writing, Contemporary Art Issues, and a choise between 2D or 3D design
