Fundraising Jumps 35% in Fiscal Year 2014

Annual fundraising at The Cooper Union jumped 35 percent to $13.49 million in the year ending June 30, 2014, with contributions from alumni, parents and friends.
Alumni gifts accounted for 55% of the total, or $7.40 million.
$2.98 million consisted of gifts to the Annual Fund, exceeding the $2.76 million budgeted goal for the Annual Fund by 8%. By dollars, 67% of Annual Fund giving was from alumni ($1.99 million), 11% from parents ($0.33 million), and 22% from matching gifts, non-alumni trustees, friends, and students ($0.66 million). Alumni participation (all giving to all funds) was 22%, compared with 23% in the previous fiscal year.
Two multi-million dollar bequests and two $1 million gifts were among the major gifts received in 2014. "Such generosity reflects the extraordinary personal commitment of Cooper alumni and their families," said Jamshed Bharucha, president of The Cooper Union.
He added: "Thanks to the alumni, parents and friends dedicated to advancing this great institution, and the focused and coordinated work of our Alumni Affairs and Development team, we can all be proud of the progress made this year in realizing the resources necessary to pave the way for Cooper’s bright future."
