Following receiving the William Breger Faculty Achievement Award for "Excellence in Teaching" from the New York School of Interior Design in 2023, Joseph Goldstein AR'86 was awarded the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for "Excellence in Adjunct Teaching" 2024 in a ceremony at the Fashion Institute of Technology earlier this month.

Joseph Goldstein has been teaching design studios in the undergraduate program at SUNY/FIT since 2012; and design studios at New York School of Interior Design since 2004, currently in the MFA-2 post-professional program.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
