The lecture is part of Thorsten Helbig and Christian Rieser ARCH 132 Structures II Course. This event will begin with a presentation by Wlliam Horgan of Grimshaw about the evolution of Grimshaw’s design trajectory through the lens of several of the practice’s seminal projects. A class conversation will follow the presentation.

The conversation will be moderated by Thorsten Helbig and Christian Rieser.

William Horgan joined Grimshaw in 1995 and helped to champion this innovation in their work. His work at the firm includes the Berlin Stock Exchange , Manchester International Airport and the Eden Project  in Cornwall, UK. Horgan joined the New York office in 2003 where he led the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) project in Troy, New York and the Miami Science Museum among others.  He has been a Partner Grimshaw since 2010.

Since its founding 25 years ago, Grimshaw Studio has produced work that is focused on quality of detailing while constantly exploring innovative materials and approaches. The work responds to the needs and constraints of  use, site, and observer experience by rigorous attention to detail and commitment to excellence during every phase of the design process. Throughout its history, the studio’s commitment to sustainable and humane design has never wavered. 

This lecture is open to current Cooper Union students, faculty, and staff.
