Village Preservation is celebrating its work over the past year to protect the architectural and cultural heritage of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo. This event will also honor the diverse people, businesses, and organizations that help to make our neighborhoods so special. Hear from community members, elected officials, and Village Preservation's leadership about our work in the community over the past year. The 2022 Village Awardees include:

Registration is FREE, but is required. Register today to attend this in-person event. If you are unable to attend in-person you can sign up for the livestream here.

Attendees are required to show proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination and booster and must wear a CDC-recommended mask (disposable surgical, KN95, KF94, or N95) while indoors. Cloth masks alone are not permitted but may be worn as a second layer over a disposable surgical mask.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
