POSTED ON: November 19, 2020
Amanda Simson, assistant professor of chemical engineering, recently co-authored papers in two leading journals on energy research. A December 2020 paper in Biomass and Bioenergy, with recent Albert Nerken School of Engineering alumni Monica Abdallah ChE'17 MChE'19 and Derek Ni ChE’18 MChE’20, analyzed the behavior of biochar made from various agricultural and food wastes for synthesis gas and energy production. A November 2020 paper in Energy co-written with colleagues at Iowa State University considered the cost-savings as well as environmental impact of Dimethyl ether (DME) production versus conventional diesel fuel.
