Andy Kim

Assistant Professor Adjunct

Andy Kim operates Andy Kim Design and Research Office, an independent practice working across buildings, furniture, and objects. The studio investigates the design field as a cultural whole across multiple scales, treating construction, manufacturing, assembly and theory as interconnected disciplines. Alongside his practice, he teaches design studios and seminars. Selected works have been exhibited internationally, including at Collectible Brussels and New York, A83, and the Helms Design Center and his writing has been published by Pidgin Press. He holds a Post-Professional Master from Princeton University and a Bachelor from Pratt Institute, and previously worked in the offices of MOS, Hume Coover Studio, Op–al, and Grimshaw.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.
