Carl "Joe" Burchfield A'68
Visit Joe Burchfield's studio in Brooklyn during the 30th Annual Arts Gowanus Open Studios. From October 17-18, 400+ artists throughout Gowanus open their studios to show the public their art and process. Joe's studio can be found at 543 Union Street, Studio 4B, Brooklyn, NY. Opening hours are from 12- 6 pm.
Matt Arnold AR'82
Matt Arnold secured a patent for a tide and time clock in June of 2026. This patent is US 12,656,738 B1 and can be viewed here. He also just donated a rubbing of Trajan's Column in Rome made by his father, Floyd Arnold A'58, to the Herb Lubalin Center. It was created while Floyd studied on a Fulbright Scholarship in Germany.
Ryan Oakes A'04 and Trevor Oakes A'04
Ryan and Trevor Oakes are showing Eleven-Day Paintings in Pietro Alexander Gallery from September 17-October 31. Their show features a recent body of concave paintings they made on the Hudson River, juxtaposed with historic Hudson River School paintings.The paintings were made over eleven consecutive days and depict the changing weather conditions. Cynthia Hartling A'84
Cynthia Hartling A'84 curated a group exhibition titled In the Thick of It at the Visual Arts Gallery in Santa Fe Community College. The exhibition also includes her work, as well as the work of Tom Michelli A'75. The opening reception is Thursday, September 24 and the exhibition will remain on view through October 14, 2026.
