Physics
The physics program at Cooper Union provides a sequence of introductory courses devised to introduce students in engineering to fundamental physical concepts that underlie all the engineering disciplines. Additionally, the physics department offers elective courses that are crafted to provide an enhanced understanding of specially selected fields of interest in engineering science. The Department of Physics maintains an instructional laboratory with two photographic darkrooms.
Areas of research of the physics faculty include atomic theory, astrophysics, biophysics, deterministic chaos, micro-controller based instrumentation, and solid-state physics.
