Steven Forman AR'77

Steven Forman AR'77 is retiring from Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R) as Principal and Director of Operations. Forman met Liz Diller at The Cooper Union over fifty years ago and retained a bond with her, Charles Renfro, Ben Gilmartin, and the late Ric Scofidio. At DS+R, Forman contributed to the project management of the High Line, The Shed, The Museum of Modern Renovation + Expansion, and many more.

Howard Davis PHY'68

Earlier this year, Howard Davis PHY’68 released his latest book, Encounters with Architecture: Insights from a Hundred Places. It is described as an “architectural memoir” based on buildings and places of Davis’s own experience and memory.

Irwin Rubin A'52

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum acquired three painted wood constructions by Irwin Rubin which are undergoing conservation treatment. In Hidden in Color: Treatment and Scientific Analysis of a 1960s Painted Wood Construction by Irwin RubinConservation Technician Victoria Kitirattragarn details the research and treatment methodologies she’s devoted to Rubin’s artwork.

Esteban Cabeza de Baca A'10

Esteban Cabeza de Baca A’10 is presenting a solo exhibition at MoMA PS1 until spring 2027. His art is currently displayed in the Hammer Museum at UCLA and the Buffalo AKG Art Museum and will be featured at MCA Denver starting July 24.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
