Posted September 20, 2011
Overview
The Cooper Union, founded in 1859, is searching for a full-time Webmaster to manage and maintain a redesigned and rebuilt website. The new website was launched simultaneous with the Inauguration of President Jamshed Bharucha on November 2, 2011. President Bharucha will take its programs in art, architecture, engineering and humanities to the next level to meet the challenges for innovation and global reach during the first half of the 21st century.
Job Responsibilities
The position involves direct oversight, management and content development of Cooper Union's institutional web presence. These responsibilities will involve daily upkeep and administration of the college's website via the content management system, the management of web associates, the authoring of original editorial content, supporting other CMS users and end-users throughout the college, CMS template creation and support documentation.
The ideal candidate will have equally developed editorial and technical talents. He or she must be extensively familiar with contemporary web publishing practices, including blogging and the blogosphere, web traffic analysis, content management systems, web design, search engine optimization, and be passionate about emerging web technologies. The candidate will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have had previously published original work online. Digital imaging and photo retouching skills will help the candidate produce strong visual materials to accompany web content. A sensitivity to design and aesthetics is also highly desirable.
