Cooper Union Orientation - IT Support

New Cooper Union Students,

Greetings! I hope you all had a chance to look through last week’s Orientation Bulletin and begin to explore the Set To Go program. As a reminder, this program provides a series of topics for students and their families to discuss and review as they plan for the transition from high school to college.

This week we are providing you with information to get you used to using the Teams platform in the Microsoft 365 suite of programs. Our IT Team has compiled the following resources for you to help you learn about Teams. Please take some time over these next two weeks to review these materials.

Introduction to Teams: Introduction to Microsoft Teams

Cooper Union Teams log-in Guide: Log-in to Microsoft Teams

Teams Classroom Basics: Teams Classroom basics

Teams Cheat Sheet: Teams cheat sheet

Teams Shortcut Keys:  Teams Shortcut Keys

During the week of August 3, 2020, we will begin using Teams to engage with you as we get closer to the start of classes. We have an Orientation 2020 “class” set up in Teams that we will use together to help get you familiar with the system before you start engaging with your classes. Later this summer IT will have virtual real-time workshops for you. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact them at

Are you eager to start meeting your fellow classmates and begin socializing with each other? The Office of Students Affairs is coordinating virtual social events throughout the summer to help you connect with each other. This Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 7:30PM we will be gathering for a Sunset on the Hudson – Live Samba Event. You can RSVP for this event here.

Student Affairs has an active Instagram account where we regularly post events and opportunities to socialize and get to know fellow students. We encourage you to follow us on Instagram - @cooperunion_studentaffairs. We also maintain an active Linktree where you can see a listing of events that is updated regularly.

Next week you will receive more information about our student clubs and organizations as well as opportunities to virtually meet with representatives from our student councils.

I hope you’re all doing well and I’m looking forward to meeting you soon!

Until next week…

The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
