DESCRIPTION:This lecture explored the ways that the structural elements of buildings can be made more sustainable and the ways in which structural engineers support holistic sustainable design. The topics included Embodied Carbon and its role in Life Cycle Environmental Impact Assessment (LCEIA), the use of BIM in LCEIA, Durability, Regionality, Sea Level Rise, Green and Blue Roofs, Wind Turbines, Green Concrete, and the manner in which structure contributes to LEED.
