Night Drawing on Location
Night Drawing on Location Description New York City is filled with exciting places to go at night to practice your drawing skills. To capture the mood and light of interior spaces like Grand Central Station, Kimberly Hotel fish tank, St. Patrick's Cathedral, appropriate drawing mediums will be explored. On warm evenings we will draw in protected outdoor spots such as the Highline and Central Park and Madison Square Park.
With pencil, charcoal, felt markers, india ink wash or other media of your choice, basic drawing issues such as composition, atmospheric and linear perspective, value (shades of gray), expressive line quality will be reviewed and reinforced during class critiques at the end of each session. Techniques of working light on dark ground will help you focus on different qualities of light. This class is a wonderful way to wind down at the end of a hectic work day, where you can focus on yourself, expand and challenge your drawing abilities and trust your personal expression. All levels will benefit from this drawing experience. It is a class that can be taken many times.
