This class is a hands-on introduction to 3D modeling that aims to familiarize students with the principal types of 3D modeling software available on the market today and through practice-based learning, develop fundamental skills in 3D modeling.
We will cover a variety of 3D modeling techniques that are useful to architects, engineers, designers and artists. The course will start with two-dimensional exercises in Rhinoceros then work its way to fluid 3D modeling in Fusion 360. At the end of the course, students will have the necessary skills to undertake 3D modeling projects autonomously.
No prior knowledge of modeling software is required for the class, although students with prior 3D modeling experience are encouraged to take this course. Students will use Rhinoceros, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, Onshape and Blender. Trial versions of these software are available online.
