Learn the fundamentals of typography in this two-day workshop. The workshop will mix the theoretical principles with practical applications. The history, formal elements and the practice of typography will all be explored. Students will learn to look at type with more care, to appreciate the subtleties of the letterforms, to understand what makes a typeface good or bad, and most importantly, what to do with that information. The essential elements of typography’s building blocks will be explored and dissected. In short, the students will learn to make informed decisions about typefaces and crafting elegant typography. This course is aimed at people unfamiliar with typography, or ones who never fully grasped it before.
Meets Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Laptop with Adobe InDesign or Illustrator installed
This workshop can be followed with the Typography: Essentials workshop for further study.
The final day to register is Feb. 2nd., students enrolling after this date will pay a $15 late fee.
