Applications are invited for the Cooper Union Postdoctoral Fellowship in Social Sciences - Humanities and Social Sciences.
This one-year teaching fellowship is open to individuals who have been awarded the Ph.D. in geography, psychology, or anthropology after September 1, 2009. Applicants who have not yet been awarded the degree but will have degree in hand by September 1, 2014 must submit a letter from the department chair confirming that the degree is expected by the start date of the fellowship. The period of the fellowship is September 1, 2014 through May 31, 2015.

The fellowship requires teaching three courses, a sophomore-level core course in each term and an elective course in spring.
The fellow is expected to participate in the work of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and of Cooper Union in general – meetings, exhibitions, and other programs – and to give one presentation each term on an issue relevant to the fellow’s own research.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding early-career scholar, with demonstrable skills in teaching and research.
To that end, the application should include the following materials:
- A current c.v.
- A description of the candidate’s teaching experience
- A description of the candidate’s current research project, explaining further how the fellowship will enable the candidate to bring the project to completion
- Three letters of recommendation, which should address the candidate’s teaching abilities and capacity to make a significant academic contribution through book length scholarly work or its equivalent.
Applications will be reviewed beginning April 30, 2014 and considered until the position is filled.
