Other Housing Options
Educational Housing Services
Educational Housing Services (EHS) is a not-for-profit organization that provides safe and affordable fully-furnished housing to students and interns coming to New York City throughout the year. EHS manages multiple properties throughout New York City and Brooklyn and is a great short term housing option that offers the opportunity to live in a community with your peers. Check out the website below for locations, rates and availability.
Many students have found that clean, safe, and affordable group residences help ease the transition into New York City life. Spending a semester or a year in such a residence can offer the out-of-town student time to meet compatible roommates and to become better acquainted with the city and its various neighborhoods.
These residences have become very desirable in this tight housing market, and most operate on a first-come, first served basis. Waiting lists can be the rule as early as June, so contact them early.

Just some of the schools placing students at University Place are the English Language School (ELS), Cordoza Law School, St. Francis College, Brooklyn College and NYU.
The property, built in 2000, was designed to look like a fine hotel and affords students the opportunity to have exceptional housing at affordable prices. Students who live at University Place either register with a specific roommate or we make the match.
University Place has 64 rooms with space for 128 students! New York Foundation for Senior Citizens Home Sharing Program
What is the Home Sharing Program?
New York Foundation for Senior Citizens' Home Sharing Program matches compatible persons in shared-living arrangements in dwellings rented or owned by one of the participants. The program seeks to match persons for whom sharing of living arrangements would enhance their financial and/or social well being, promote comanionship and relieve feelings of isolation. Potential clients are screened through applications, references and personal interviews. If approved, they are matched with a compatible sharemate. An interview between host and guest introduces them to the possibility of sharing living quarters.
For further information call (212) 962-7559 and ask for the Home Sharing Program Social Worker.
