Materials needed for the first two classes:
acrylic paint, brushes, paper, disposable palettes, water containers, rags, plastic cloth or newspaper to cover table

acrylic paints:
2 oz. tubes (Utrect brand is good and inexpensive, Golden brand is better)
Ultramarine Blue
Pthalo Blue (do not get the reddish tint)
Titanium White
Black
Hansa yellow Medium or Cadmium Light
Quinacridone Magenta (Golden brand)
One or more of the following browns: Burnt sienna, Raw sienna, Burnt umber, Raw umber

gouache:
White Gouache (14ml. tube or larger)

suggested brushes:
Bring whatever you have on hand.  Your preference for brushes is personal and your choices will develop as class progresses.  Listed below are some options:

acrylic brushes (natural boar bristle or synthetic):
½” flat or filbert, ½” in diameter round, smaller brushes for details

watercolor brushes:
Windsor and Newton’s Septer Series, synthetic/natural blend ½” diameter or larger, round ½” or larger flat or filbert
one small round pointed detail brush

gouache brushes:
Silverwhite Series 1500, ½” or larger round and flat or filbert
Princeton Art and Brush Co. 6300 Series, ½” or larger round and flat or filbert
one small round pointed detail brush

paper:
several sheets of 100% cotton watercolor paper such as Arches, Fabriano, etc.
20"x30" 140#, hot press or cold press (to be torn into quarters) recommended
pads of acid free, archival watercolor paper OK too, 140#
2 sheets 22”x30” American Masters paper for acrylics #140

other supplies:
masking or drafting tape 3/4" wide
rags and/or paper towels
2 or 3 water containers (deli containers or glass jars are fine)
small plastic atomizer for water
plastic or newspaper to cover table

palette:
many types of plastic and metal palettes are available with wells for individual colors and an area for mixing.
also, pads of disposable wax paper palettes are very convenient for clean-up (my preference); even more practical is a roll of freezer wrap.

optional:
color wheel (try to get The Color Wheel Company version rather than Grumbacher)
