Registration Status:

Session Dates: October 04, 2018 - December 13, 2018

Cost: $830.00

THIS CLASS IS NO LONGER OFFER DURING THIS PERIOD

This course introduces participants to one of the most powerful elements of the digital fabrication revolution: CNC milling with state-of-the-art machinery and software. Participants are introduced to Mastercam, a suite of powerful CAD-based tools designed for NC programming. Engineers, machinists, architects, and makers can create and cut parts using one of many supplied machine and control definitions, or use advanced tools to create customized definitions.

Mastercam’s comprehensive set of predefined toolpaths—including contour, drill, pocketing, face, peel mill, engraving, surface high speed, advanced multi-axis, and much more—enable efficient and accurate production. Participants will gain hands-on experience using a plasma cutter and Haas CNC milling machines in the machine shop of Cooper Union’s Engineering School. Upon completion of this course, students should be qualified to take the test for the Mastercam Design and Mill Certificate at the Associate level. Some CAD experience is desirable.

Meets Weekly: Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Students MUST enroll 5 business days prior to the course start date. Registration for this workshop will open September 5, 2018. Early bird special: the registration fee will be waved until Friday, September 14th.
