Summer Art Intensive - Instructors


Laura Dodson has been the subject of six one person exhibitions in Athens, Greece and New York. Her work has recently appeared at Lesley Heller Workspace, the New York Studio School and Elizabeth Harris Gallery in New York, the Godwin-Turnbach Museum in Queens, Sideshow Gallery and Schaffler Gallery in Brooklyn. Her photographs are in the permanent collection of the Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki and the American College of Athens. She currently teaches Digital Photography at Queens College and Pratt Institute’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.

ANNE-MARIE - DRAWING INTENSIVE Anne-Marie McIntyre is an artist and educator who maintains a studio in Dobbs Ferry NY where she focuses primarily on ceramics and drawing. She received her BFA From The Cooper Union and her MFA in ceramics from Tyler School of Art. She currently exhibits at Bkbx Gallery in Gowanus, Brooklyn, where you can see examples of her most recent work. Instructor - Anne-Marie McIntyre

Maia Ruth Lee was born in Busan, Korea and was raised in Kathmandu Nepal. Lee returned to Seoul for her Under-
graduate studies in Fine Arts and after stints of studying in Canada and Italy she moved to the U.S. in 2011. Lee currently works and lives in New York.

Robert Hult earned his BFA in painting from RISD and received a Pollock-Krasner Fellowship in 2010. His work is included in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, KS and the RISD Museum. He is a founder and partner in the Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery in New York. He has recently exhibited at CRG Gallery, Invisible Exports, and Kerry Schuss Gallery in New York and the Pizutti Collection in Columbus, OH.

DAVE - CREATIVE WRITING Dave Johnson is a poet and plawright. His works include: Baptized To The Bone, Dead Heat, Marble Shoot, and Sister, Cousin, Aunt/ Sorella, Cugina, Zia. Dave is a Visiting Faculty member of the MFA program at The New School and a Lecturer at Yale University. His newest work is a translation of the play, Gomorrah, based on the international best selling book by Roberto Saviano. And appointed by the Mayor's Office of New York City, Dave is currently serving as Poet in Residence for The Department of Probation of NYC. Instructor - Dave Johnson

ERICA FABRI - CREATIVE WRITING Erica Miriam Fabri’s first book, Dialect of a Skirt, was a finalist for the 2011 Paterson Poetry Prize and was included on the lists: Best Books of 2010 (, Small Press Distribution’s Bestseller list (June 2010) and The Poetry Foundation’s Bestseller list (October 2010). She has been widely published in magazines and anthologies and awarded an Omega Institute writer’s residency. She has performed and facilitated seminars at: New York University, Columbia University, Penn State University, Rutgers University, Drexel University and CUNY. She has worked on projects as a writer, editor and performance director for The New York Knicks, HBO, Lincoln Center for the Arts and Nickelodeon Television. She teaches Performance Poetry at Pace University and she is a curriculum writer for Urban Word NYC, a non-for-profit poetry and hip-hop organization, through which she published the textbook, The Creatively College Bound Reader. HAISI - ANIMATION Haisi Hu is an animator and video artist. She creates animations that tell stories of individuals searching fruition of their lives in an apocalyptic world. Her works feature elaborated miniature sets and dreamlike landscapes. She won many awards including a NYFA fellowship, NYSCA grant, Brooklyn Council for the Arts grant, and Franklin Furnace Fellowship. Hu earned her BFA at the Cooper Union School of Art. She is currently a film/video technician at the Cooper Union. She lives in Brooklyn with two hamsters. Haisi Hu

Juan Villanueva is a Type Designer at Monotype NYC. His practice includes graphic design, lettering, motion graphics, and illustration. He has taught Graphic Design in the Pre-college Program at Cooper Union and Typography at The City College of New York, and is a graduate of the 2013-2014 Type@Cooper Extended Program. When he's not working, he can be spotted in the streets of NYC taking pictures of type.

MASHA - CONTEMPORARY ART ISSUES & DRAWING Masha Vlasova works in film, video, and installation. Masha received her BFA at the Cooper Union in 2012 and her MFA from Yale University in 2016. She's a recipient the Fulbright Fellowship in Filmmaking, Alice Kimball Traveling Fellowship, and JUNCTURE Art and Human Rights Initiative Fellowship at Yale Law School. Her photographs, videos, and objects have been exhibited at La MaMa La Galleria and Abrons Arts Center in New York, Leeds College of Art, UK, Vox Populi in Philadelphia, ArtSpace in New Haven, and at Van Every/Smith Galleries, Davidson, NC. She has presented on her work at Ludwig-Maximilians Unversitat Munchen (University of Munich) in Germany, Temple University, and University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She currently teaches sculpture at University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. PABLO DIAZ - CONTEMPORARY ART ISSUES Pablo Diaz (Acting Director and Contemporary Art Issues Instructor) is currently an MFA candidate at Hunter College in New York City and recipient of the Kossak Travel Grant. He will travel to Italy in June to study fresco painting. His studio is located in Hunter's MFA studio building in Tribeca, which opens it's doors to the public for open studios in the Fall and Spring semesters. Instructor - pablo diaz

SAM - DRAWING INTENSIVE Sam Chun teaches Drawing and is a NYC based artist working in painting and sculpture. Born and raised in New Jersey, he moved up to NYC to attend The Cooper Union to study fine arts. He graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2010 and maintains his practice as an artist.
