The following is a tentative calendar for the 2017 Summer STEM Program. A detailed listing will be provided to students and posted here in time for the program.
During the course of the six-week program, Cooper Union’s recruiters and career counselors conduct seminars to prepare the interns to apply for colleges and careers in the STEM fields. Students are also taken to a college fair where they are given a broad exposure to a variety of college choices.
At the end of the six-week program, students submit a technical paper or a website detailing their research and results. Weekly workshops will be provided so that interns may learn how to write a technical paper, give an oral presentation, and learn about the college admissions process as well as various careers in the STEM fields. These workshops will allow the groups to work on their papers or websites as the project progresses. At the conclusion of the program, interns will give an oral presentation showing the work they performed for each project to an audience of peers and invited guests.
