Important Announcement regarding the Fall 2020 Admitted Student Enrollment Deposit

April 22, 2020

We recognize this is a difficult time with the uncertainties connected with the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously we announced an extension to our enrollment deposit deadline from May 1 to May 15. Today we are also announcing that the deposit will now be fully refundable until August 1, 2020.*

We hope this alleviates anxiety about the Fall 2020 semester for you and your family. We expect to resolve and address any outstanding issues regarding the beginning of the school year well in advance of August 1, 2020. This change in our refund policy allows you to deposit and reserve your place, but also to be assured that the full amount will be returned to you if for any reason you decide not to enroll for Fall 2020.

If you have questions about the refund of your deposit, please contact us at admissions@cooper.edu. We are here to help and support you.

Sincerely,

Mark Campbell
Vice President for Enrollment

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
